DUO LI DUO Founder David Wang's "Oiran Gift Box" featuring three-roast flavored bamboo salt, which marries traditional craftsmanship with innovative design, won a prestigious Silver Award. Additionally, their "Boneless Whole Milkfish" received high commendation. Both products were among the 90 outstanding selections from a highly competitive field, further enhancing Taiwan's food culture on the global stage.
"FUN FOOD TAIWAN" 2.0: Product Evolution, Carbon Reduction, and Enriched Experiences
Since its inception in 2020, "FUN FOOD TAIWAN" has championed clean, high-value, experience-driven, and sustainable Taiwanese food products. This year marks its 2.0 phase, focusing on "product evolution, carbon reduction, and enriched experiences." A total of 119 companies submitted 264 products, with only 90 ultimately selected. DUO LI DUO's success in securing two spots underscores its profound R&D capabilities and cultural depth, positioning its products at the forefront of industry innovation.
"Oiran Gift Box": A Fusion of Flavor, Culture, and Design
The "Oiran Gift Box" with its three-roast flavored bamboo salt, which earned the Silver Award, uses Taiwanese Moso bamboo as its base. It undergoes an ancient triple-high-temperature roasting process, then is combined with Taiwanese dried fruits like mango and pineapple through slow, low-temperature baking. This creates a rich, sweet-and-savory flavor profile, offering a dining experience akin to edible aromatherapy. Its packaging artfully blends Taiwanese floral motifs with a neutral illustration style, conveying both Eastern wellness wisdom and contemporary design language, demonstrating dual value in culinary aesthetics and cultural narrative. Lily Wu, General Manager of the Raw Materials Department, noted that this product aims for every taste experience to become a bridge for cultural and emotional exchange.
"Boneless Whole Milkfish": Pioneering Convenience and Sustainability
The "Boneless Whole Milkfish," which received high praise from judges, is Taiwan's first product to retain the complete fish shape while removing fine bones. This innovation breaks through traditional milkfish processing limitations, enhancing cooking convenience and safety for family consumption. The fish are sourced from brackish water fish farms along the Tainan coast, employing a "fish-grass-sheep" symbiotic aquaculture model where grazing sheep replace chemical weed control. This practice exemplifies environmental friendliness and sustainable operation, perfectly aligning with the core values of this year's selection.
Rooted in Taiwan, Reaching the World
DUO LI DUO Founder David Wang expressed gratitude for the judges' recognition and affirmed that the company's long-standing commitment to Taiwan's land, collaboration with smallholder farmers, and dedication to additive-free healthy concepts have come to fruition. He emphasized, "We are not just making food; we are spearheading an innovation in Taiwanese culinary culture, rooted in our land and bridged by a global language."
Originating from a night market stall, DUO LI DUO's dried fruit, bamboo salt, and seafood products are now marketed in Japan, Hong Kong, and Southeast Asian markets. The company maintains a strict policy of minimal processing and avoids artificial colors and preservatives. Looking ahead, DUO LI DUO plans to continue competing in international competitions like iTQi and Great Taste Awards, and actively participate in global professional food exhibitions such as SIAL, ANUGA, and Foodex Japan, to boost the international visibility of "Taiwanese flavors."
In the future, DUO LI DUO and HAI YI will focus on three main areas: "new bamboo salt and dried fruit flavors," "low-sodium seasonings and seasonal ingredients," and "digitalized culinary cultural assets." They aim to deepen their philosophy of natural, healthy, and sustainable eating, ensuring every product serves as a delicious link connecting land, culture, and international consumers, continuing to inject vitality into Taiwan's food industry as it ventures worldwide.
